Type 99

The Wehrindustrie Type 2, commonly known as a WI Type 2, was a rifle used in the Wehrmacht from 1939 to 1940. 6,000,000 were produced, but only 1,000,000 were used in combat.

History Edit

The WI Type-2 was invented by the Warguber weapons manufactorers, modeled off of the Arisaka. The Reich Ministry of Supply ordered the distribution of these rifles to training grounds after October 3, 1939, and it was allowed to be used on the front lines after November 15. The WI Type 2 had a longer stock than the WI Type 1, but used the same bullets. The Type 2 weapon was replaced by the WI Type 3 rifle in January 1940.
